What Tools And Chemicals Do I Need For My Swimming Pool?
If you have never owned a pool before you might be wondering what type of chemicals and tools you will need in order to make sure that your pool stays in the best possible condition throughout the season. A pool does require a decent amount of upkeep and knowing exactly what you need will help to ensure that your pool stays sparkling clear from the first day that you set it up.
Tools
There are many tools that you may need for your pool. The first tool is going to be a net. The net, which is sometimes referred to as a scoop, will help you when it comes to the cleaning process. Basically you will use the net to remove any debris that has gotten into your pool from people tracking it in on their feet or even from trees and bushes that may be located near the pool.
A floater is what you use when you have chlorine tablets for your pool. It is a device that floats on the water and holds the tablets for you. There are many different types of floats with different designs so that you can choose one that really adds to your pool. There are also plain floaters if you are not looking for anything that is unique or different.
Another thing you will need is tests strips. These are not really a tool but they are used like a tool to tell you the levels of certain aspects of the water. There are some strips that can be read using a digital strip reader that can make it a bit easier for someone who has never had a pool before.
Chemicals
You will also need certain chemicals for the pool. You should get shock because occasionally you will want to shock the pool. You will probably only need to do this once every few weeks but it is recommended that you do this more often in order to keep the pool in the best possible shape.
If you are using a salt water pool you will need to add salt as the salt level decreases over time. First you will put in a large amount and then throughout the summer months you will gradually add more as you see needed. Your pump will alert you in some situations that your salt level is getting low but there are also test strips that you should use often to make sure that the levels are correct.
Those who are not using a salt water pool will need chlorine tables. You will need to place these in a floater to make sure that it is released slowly and to ensure that your pool does not become bleached. These are to be added as the tabs dissolve. There are also test strips that can be used in order to make sure that the chlorine level is where it needs to be.
There are other pool additives that you will need from time to time. There are some that will balance the PH of the pool and others that focus on other levels. You will only need these if the levels start to read off on your test strips.
These are only some of the things that you will need for your pool. Each pool is a little different and most pools will come with a start up kit but you still may find that you need to buy a few extra things to get your pool up and going. You will of course have to renew your supplies as you notice that they have start to run out.
